 Pension Review

Welcome to the MyAdviser Pension Review area.

If you are not sure about how your pension works including charges and investment strategy then you will get a lot out of this piece of unbiased research. It is at our expense and as financial planners we know exactly how to help you work out what you have and show you how it compares with the best pensions available. It will be clear from this work whether you should act and change your pension or stay where you are.

If this form looks too much like work then there is an easier way to get a review - see bottom of this page.

This service is at our expense.

Type of Pension

This review covers Personal Pensions, Company Pensions, AVC's, Buy Out Bonds/Retirement Bonds, ARF's, AMRF's and PRSA's. You will find out for free how much commission you are paying to your sales rep/broker/accountant, how much your investment strategy costs and the charges paid to your provider.  You will also see how your pension compares to the best in breed modern solution.

How It Works

This service does not require you to identify yourself to us and it is at our expense.  Just complete the form and send it automatically via our secure email service. We will come back to you via email if we need more information and then we will email you your review. It is that easy.

If you do not want us to contact you after the review all you need to do is to select the option on the form. We will not sell your information and we will not contact you without your permission. There is no downside to this service so why not find out more about what could be one of your biggest assets.

Please note that as this work is being done at our expense and there are times that it will take extra work to identify your pension. We appreciate your patience as this may delay our response. If you have multiple pensions then the fastest results will be achieved by sending a Letter of Authority to each provider.

This looks like a lot of work - is there an easier way to do a Pension Review?

Yes. The good news is that there are easier ways to do this. You can do one of the following;

1. Pension Review Letter: Write to your Pension Provider (not your adviser) and ask them the questions opposite. To make this easier for you we have drafted a letter that you can use. Just to let you know your provider will not disclose how much commission is paid on your pension. We never ask that question because we usually do not have to. We can work it out from the data asked for. Once you have the answers upload the letter to us via our secure "Contact Us" page. If they email the answers to you, just forward it to [email protected] . We will take it from there.

2. Letter of Authority: Write to your Pension Provider and give us permission to just gather data on your pension. We won't be able to do anything with your pension - just get information. This gives us the fastest way to do the review as we can get everything we need including asking about commission. Once you have this letter completed and signed (before you post it) upload a copy of it to us via our "Contact Us" page. We need it to contact your provider and it will speed up the process. We will take it from there.

    MyAdviser Pension Review Form

    [object Object]
We only want a contact phone number so that we can have a chat about your needs and whether MyAdviser is the right fit for your needs.
Please let us know your email address that can be used to communicate with you.
Do not add your brokers name just the provider of the pension
Enter the amount that you typically pay into your pension
This allows us to get you the best alternative cost structure so that you can compare with what you currently pay.
Transfer Value - this is the value of your pension should you retire it now or transfer it to another provider. Nominal Value - This is a value of your pension which actuaries generate that is before penalties. It is designed to keep you with that provider and please note that you can never get the nominal value of your pension.
This is the annual charge on your pension and is typically in the range of 1% to 1.5% p.a. It is very important that this information is accurate.
This is an older charge that still applies to some plans today. It is usually 5% - it is the difference between what you buy into your pension at and what you sell at.
Initial Units are on old style pensions (stopped about 5 years ago) and they make your pension look like you are getting 100% plus of your pension contributions invested when in fact the pension has no value in the first 2 years. These Initial Units also have very high annual management charges e.g. 2.75% p.a.
This is the amount after all charges of your pension contribution that gets invested in the first year of the plan. If in doubt call your pension provider. They will tell you and you do not need to ask your intermediary.

Some regular plans and a few lump sum pensions have monthly fees that inflate each year. Just enter the euro amount if it applies.
This is to cover those advisers who work off fees and you should have got a better deal if you did.
If you make any other payments re charges and fees on your pension then include them here

If you have a recent statement then it would be very helpful for us if you could upload it, especially if it had the current value and funds invested in. Also if you have the original policy statement that shows the terms that you received and the charges applied that would also help.
